What’s The Deal With Acne During Pregnancy?

The body goes through a series of changes when a woman is with child. Not only does she get stretch marks, suffer from morning sickness, and have mood swings, but she may also develop acne. This can lead a woman to feeling ugly, not wanted, and less like herself. Many women simply want to be acne free in 3 days. If she ended up gaining a bunch of weight, this may be especially true.

As the pregnancy progresses over time, the fluctuation in hormones should decrease. These changes can in turn, lead to acne. Non pregnant women are normally given medicine to help quell the acne onslaught. This may be an oral or topical treatment. The use of medicine is frowned upon for woman who are with child.

Medications for the cold of flu are also discouraged. This is really hard for pregnant women to deal with. Therefore, many women opt to wait until their child is born before they fix their acne problem.Finding a solution is possible if they discuss the issue with their OB/GYN.

The first trimester is a real culprit for acne problems in women. It is during this time that hormonal fluctuations are the worst. This will build up to an acne problem because more oil is coming thru the pores of the body.

After the first trimester the acne tends to clear up a bit because the hormone levels become more stable. Therefore, the best approach for treating acne in pregnant women is waiting until the first trimester is over with. If a woman is still depressed about her acne problem, she should seek out help right away.

Suffering from acne is not a pleasant experience. When we have it, we normally don’t feel our best. This can get worse for women who are with child. For women who are pregnant, acne onslaught is not a rarity. If you are already into your second trimester, you should speak with your OB/GYN.
