The Newest Fashion Accessory – Colored Contacts

You don’t always need to have a prescription to use eye contacts. More and more people are choosing to wear contact lenses without prescription, and now there is a huge selection of non-prescription colored contacts available on the market.

Contact lenses have always been used as an alternative to glasses when vision problems had to be corrected. As major manufacturers of contact lenses became aware of the demand for this new product, they developed non-prescription versions of the colored lenses. These contact lenses are called cosmetic lenses.

These non-prescription lenses are widely available for individuals who want to change their appearance or enhance their own eye color. If you’re interested in doing that, the first thing you can do is to begin to research the topic.

There are two basic types of colored contacts. Each one of these serves a different purpose. There are opaque contacts are used when you want to change the color of your eyes from blue to brown, for example. Enhancement contacts are used to highlight an existing eye color and are used by individuals with light colored eyes.

Contacts to alter your eyes come in a broad selection of colors and patterns. They’re used heavily in the entertainment industry to do anything from slightly and subtly altering appearance to creating a special look required by a character such as a lizard or monster.

Non-prescription colored contacts are available from a wide variety of sources, with many well-known brands offering a colored option. As with most things, you can find a huge selection of non-brand name options online, but these are definitely best avoided.

Color contacts produced by major brand name companies have undergone quality controls and checks. They are tested on a regular basis and adhere to standards that insure their wearability in terms of comfort and safety. Contacts from an unknown or unreliable source don’t necessarily do this. They may be uncomfortable to wear and could possibly cause damage to the eye.

You should bear in mind a few precautions when using contacts for the first time, as you should with any product. Many non-prescription colored contacts will cause mild irritation on first use, before the eyes have become accustomed to them, but this usually fades. They can sometimes cause blurring or slight obstruction of vision so are not recommended to be worn too much, but they don’t have any direct link to eye degradation so no lasting damage should be caused by their use.

As with other types of contacts, non-prescription colored ones need to be taken care of. You need to establish a routine, following the instructions given, of how to care for them, and ensure that they’re always cleaned and rinsed thoroughly before use. Make sure no dirt or dust gets into them as this can irritate the eye.

If you want to try out a new look, match an outfit or just have a change from your usual appearance, non-prescription colored lenses are perfect. Make sure to follow the directions for wearing and care of the lenses as you incorporate these lenses into your very own fashion statement.
