How To Properly Straighten Hair With Flat Irons

Flat iron hair straighteners are just one of a womans must-haves in her vanity. They are highly useful in keeping the frizz out of your hair. Also, because the trendiest hairstyles right now involve sleek straight hair.

Among the things that might make you think twice about buying flat irons is that ironing your hair can cause dryness and hair breakage. These are indeed hair conditions that should be avoided. But it doesn’t mean that you may no longer use flat hair irons. These undesirable effects will only happen if flat irons are not used properly.

In using flat irons here are a few tips that will help you avoid having dry hair. You may even be familiar with some of them already. It will help to refresh your memory to these important little reminders.

The most important rule in ironing the hair is to never iron it wet. Once you do, you’ll have temporary good-looking hair, and you’ll also get longer-lasting dry, frizzy, burned hair. Remember that a flat iron straightens hair by heating it while being groomed into shape. That is its purpose and not to dry wet hair.

Not only should hair be dry before ironing it should also be clean. It will make straightening the hair difficult if it is full of dust and grime. If still ironed, dirty hair will not have the shine that could be otherwise achieved by clean hair. Ironing dirty hair will be like giving it a facial scrub.

Use medium heat in ironing out the hair since too much heat may obviously burn hair into crinkles. Use a fine-toothed comb to smooth and straighten each small section first. This will distribute heat more evenly among the strands and will make the job easier to finish.

It is easier to begin ironing the hair at the nape and then progress up to the higher and outer sections of hair. Use hair clips and pins to separate properly the finished sections from the still wavy parts.

Some mouse, oil or styling gel as a final touch will make your hair shiny and soft to touch. Take care to apply only a small amount because if there’s too much, it could moisten your hair and make it wavy once again. It may also get sticky to hold.

These should help you remove your fears on using flat iron hair straighteners. Just use the flat iron properly and follow the tips and you should do alright. Straight hair that’s not dry or breakable will be at your fingertips.
