Has Air Conditioning done much for the world?

Air conditioning uses a lot of energy every single day. America is easily the country that use it the most, they would be lost without it..

The reason for this is that we use it wherever we go including the office, car and even at home. If you live in a cooler country like England you know that air con isnt really needed many times during the year.. Air con is being used more and more and can even be purchased in a portable form of dehumidifiers to keep the heat off of you wherever you may be.. Some of the states out in America like Florida use a lot of air con indeed.. Having been to some of the hottest places in America I have to say that without air con life would have been rather difficult. Being in some form of air con in the theme parks is a must as it just gets too hot waiting in line.. However is this air con simply for tourists, surely the citizens are used to the heat?
