He has these tiny, very itchy blisters that come and go on his hands. He has very sensitive skin and tends to get rashes sometimes but this is extreme. He has Autism and tends to wash his hands a LOT. He has an aversion to lotions but his doc told us to use cortisone cream on it. (He didn't look at the rash we spoke on the phone.) The cortisone seems to help some but as soon as we stop the bumps come back.

Suggestion:

This sounds like eczema. It might be a good idea to show it to a doctor to have that confirmed and to exclude other problems, like allergies.

There are some creams that can help deal with the eczema, but it is also important to keep the skin moist, as dry skin makes the eczema worse. You might want to look into getting a good soap that doesn't cause dry skin. If you can get your son to wash his hands less frequently or to put cream on his hands after he washes, that should help too. You could maybe get him to add putting on cream into his routine. He will need to use creams regularly to keep the eczema away. If he stops, there's a good chance that the skin will become dry again and the eczema will reappear.

If your son has an aversion to lotions it may be because of the smell or the way it feels on his skin. Different types of lotions cause different sensory experiences, so you may be able to find something he'll find easier to tolerate than what you've tried so far. You could try different types of lotions and let him choose which one he prefers.

My Yorkie has a skin rash, the vet has tried every kind of dog food. Currently he is on a wheat and corn free diet. Could it be he is allergic to his heart worm tablet or to the tube of flea medications i use? The vet gave him a steroid shot and he was sick for three day's wouldn't eat nor play. His skin didn't get any better

Suggestion:

It's time to consider some diagnostic testing such as skin scrapings and cultures as well as possibly allergy testing. Or get a second opinion from a veterinarian that specializes in dermatological issues.

It isn't likely that worms are the cause of the problem, but bacteria, fungi or skin parasites are all possibilities. Getting some testing done will help to determine what is actually causing the problem rather than just guessing and trying different treatments.

I go t a pneumonia vaccine about a month ago and with it a rash fever and swelling. i was observing my arm when i noticed a small patch, quarter sized, was a little lighter than the skin around it. Is this normal?

Suggestion:

One possibility that comes to mind is vitiligo. It is an autoimmune disease, and vaccines can cause autoimmune diseases, so there's a possibility it's related to the vaccine.

Once you are diagnosed, please report this to VAERS. You should also mention the rash fever, and swelling in the report. http://vaers.hhs.gov/resources/VAERS_Brochure.pdf

I am a recreational drug user and overdid it last night. I'm new to experimenting with drugs and mixed and did more than I should have. I know it was wrong but I'm concerned about the red skin rashes I have on my arms, hands, armpits, and stomach. Most of the rashes are quarter size and red. The largest one is on my left forearm and is the size of a cell phone. The rash on my abs are streaks. All of the rashes are tender but do not itch. I just got them this morning and have been taking benadryl in case it is an allergic reaction. I've also been applying hydrocortisone cream. I was thinking of waiting until Monday to go see my doctor if it does not improve. What do you think these are and do I need to go to a hospital sooner?

Suggestion:

People have died from less than that…go to the hospital ASAP

2 days ago I developed a skin coloured rash on my forehead and I'm incredibly tired. THe rash doesn't itch, or anything and is still skin coloured….and hasn't spread…any ideas what it could be?

Suggestion:

could be eczema?
i get it in my eye sockets
(of all places)
and all over

its not always itchy – its probably looks like a wee disk of flakey/dry skin
pop some moisturiser on it

dont itch or pick it

if its not eczema it might be hay fever?
its starting to be the season for it
and hay fever is literally an allergy to pollen
so you can have any reaction not just a stuffy nose
that might explain why your tiered?

put some good moisturiser on it
eat more green veg or red meat and orange juice (can help with tieredness)
and have an antihistamine?

hope this helps

if it gets worse just go to ur dr
xxx

It seems like since about that time when i purchased the new dove I have been getting a rash on my upper back where my hair goes and a little bit on my neck and chest, could the shampoo be causing this?

It sounds kinda weird to me… i have really sensitive skin though, it looks like sort of pink splotches and they aren't itchy or anything.

Thanks:)

Suggestion:

Of course you can get a rash from shampoo. You might get it because you are getting the soap on the skin when you rinse your head, or from not getting it entirely rinsed off the hair and then having the damp hair touch your skin. The only way to know would be to take care to shampoo your hair in a way that would keep the water from touching the rest of your skin, or at least limiting it a great deal. You could wash your hair at the sink, rather than in the shower. You should also take great care to not use more shampoo than is recommended, and to be especially careful to do a good rinse to remove all the residue as well. Or you could simply swap to a new kind of shampoo and see if that improves things for you. It's not weird at all, that skin would be sensitive to shampoo. Shampoo is meant to remove oil from the hair, and the rest of you doesn't have quite the same amount of oil production. Plus, you use regular soap on your skin as well- and it could be the combination of shampoo and body soap stripping the skin a bit much.

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 years ago, and I just recently took 5 pregnancy tests and found out I was 1 month pregnant. Does being pregnant make your skin super sensitive? I broke out into a rash about an hour ago, and now it won't stop itching. It's getting huge!

Suggestion:

Yes, the pregnancy rash is very common. I had it myself and it was terrible, all over my thighs and stomach, and the welts were MASSIVE. It got so bad I couldn't sleep because it itched so badly but I was bloody and hurting from scratching so much.

Talk to your midwife/OBGYN/doctor about getting some cream for your rash. There's a steroid cream that they can prescribe you that works REALLY well. You apply it twice or three times a day and that will heal the rash and keep it from itching. I had my daughter 8 months ago, so I can't remember the name of the cream, but if you ask for it, I'm sure they'll hook you up.

I'm on 0.5mg of risperidone twice a day for psychosis and suddenly I have had an outbreak of skin rashes all over my body. Is this a side effect of the medication I'm on?

Suggestion:

Yes, itching and rashes is a side effect of risperidone. It can be a severe reaction to risperidone so I recommend that you see your doctor.
